Alcaraz announced Saturday on Twitter that he will miss the next six weeks while recovering from an oblique muscle tear.
ANALYSIS
Alcaraz initially suffered the injury Friday during the quarterfinals of Paris and immediately withdrew from his match against Holger Rune. The glimmer of hope here is that Paris was the final event of the regular season, but Alcaraz will notably miss the ATP Finals, which is set to begin Nov. 13 in Turin, and Alcaraz would have been the No. 1 seed at the 12-player event. Instead, he'll head into an early offseason with hopes of recovering with more than enough time before the 2023 season kicks off in early January.
