Fight canceled due to illness
September 30, 2022
Penne will no longer face Tabatha Ricci at UFC Vegas 61 on Saturday after the fight was canceled due to Penne falling ill, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
Penne initially stepped in to replace Cheyanne Vlismas (personal) on the Oct. 1 card, but the UFC was forced to scrap the fight altogether after Penne was unable to be cleared to participate due to an undisclosed illness. As a result, Penne will work to get healthy before her next fight is scheduled.

Opens card with decision loss
July 16, 2022
Penne lost to Emily Ducote via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 27-30) at UFC on ABC 3 on Saturday on Long Island.
Facing and younger and more athletic opponent, Penne struggled to get out of first gear for the duration of the bout. Penne was peppered by low kicks from Ducote the entire fight and was never able to make an adjustment. She attempted eight takedowns in hopes of changing the momentum and failed on every single one of them. Penne is the oldest strawweight on the UFC roster at age 39. She missed nearly four years worth of action from April 2017 to April 2021 due to a USADA suspension. Penne bought herself some breathing room with back-to-back victories over Lupita Godinez and Karolina Kowalkiewicz entering this fight, but she once again needs a rebound performance her next time out.
Ducote replacing Fortino
June 1, 2022
Penne will now fight Emily Ducote in a strawweight fight at UFC Long Island, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
Penne was originally scheduled to fight Brianna Fortino at UFC Long Island, though she will now face Emily Ducote. Penne enters the Octagon looking to stretch her win streak to three, her last victory coming in 2021. Standing at 5-foot-5, Penne has a three inch height advantage, while also having a three inch reach advantage as well. Penne will look to take the inexperienced Ducote to the ground. Ducote is making her UFC debut against a seasoned veteran in Penne, who sports a 2-3 UFC record.
